I haven’t done a “blogkeeping” post in a while. At one point, I was trying to do these weekly, but I just don’t do enough blogkeeping to post that often.
However, I did have a couple of items to bring up. First of all, you may have noticed that I’ve simplified my review template. It is not unlike me to make things overly complicated before I find my sweet spot, and that is what happened with the review template. Hopefully, this will work better for everyone.
Onto point number two….
I’ve been a member of the Amazon Associates program for quite some time now. However, I realized it is time for a change. I haven’t been happy with some customer service from Amazon of late and, although I still use them frequently, I’m more likely to question my involvement. But, I am also an Oregonian—and we Oregonians dislike the Big Box world and love local, which is why I’ve signed up with the Powell’s Books partner program.
If you are not familiar with Powell’s Books, you are missing out. Powell’s is a mega new/used independent bookseller in the Portland area. If you are ever planning a trip to the Rose City, a visit to the (main) Burnside location of this store is a must.
Anyway, I just recently discovered that they have a partner program and, frankly, I find it to be a better program than Amazon. If you are willing to purchase used books (and Powell’s is very picky about which books to buy back), you will find far better prices there than at Amazon. Going forward, my affiliate links will go to Powell’s instead of Amazon and I’ve updated my search box on the right sidebar to go to Powell’s.
I didn’t make much money off Amazon and, frankly, I won’t be making any money off Powell’s—they give partners the option to get paid in store credit, so this is all to support my book habit! If you are so inclined, please feel free to access Powell’s from my site and, if you are in Portland, get thee to a Powell’s store!
In other news, I have a number of solicited reviews coming up and I’m ahead of schedule with my reading (which is a shock!), so I’m hoping to throw in some more books of my own choosing. My goal is 1-2 reviews a week, plus my 3 weekly posts (What the Kids are Reading on Tuesdays, Saturday Snapshot, and Outside the Book on Sundays).
And that’s it for this bit of blogkeeping! Now, I must get back to my books!
