Saturday Snapshot 03.09.2013

To participate in Saturday Snapshot: post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky on the host page. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

It's Saturday again, and I'm linking up with Alyce from At Home with Books for the Saturday Snapshot.

One of my hobbies (besides reading) is crochet.  I also knit, but I prefer crochet.  I've gotten to the point where I can't just sit and watch TV, I have to be doing something else at the same time.  And, lately, that thing has been working on an afghan.  I've made dozens of afghans, but always for other people.  This one is just for my family.  I realized we needed something not in pink and not with flowers or butterflies or princesses on it for our couch downstairs, so I came up with this:

Here is a close-up of the detail....

My daughter especially loves it.  Of course, she asked that I make her a blanket, so that is my current project.  Hopefully, I'll have pictures to post of that in a couple weeks!

  1. Beautiful work. THANKS for sharing.

  2. My grandmother, whom I called Mimi, showed me how to do many things with my hands, knitting, crocheting, sewing, deco paz (sp?). I haven't honored her well by remembering most of it, but this post reminds me of her.

  3. That's a lovely design. I did a granny square one for us, mainly in greens, from lots of different wool. Now I'm doing the same, but with lots of blues, in a random pattern, for one daughter, and a properly co-ordinated cream and brown one for my other daughter. Crochet can take over! My Snapshot is at

  4. Love the pattern and color you've chosen♫ Happy Saturday♥ My SS:

  5. I wish I could knit or crochet, but neither took the times I tried them, LOL. That is beautiful!! Here's my Saturday Snapshot post.

  6. Looks so cozy- it must be rewarding that your daughter is already demanding more items from you too, guess you have to go watch some tv...!

  7. Oh how lovely to see a photo from a crafter. I also feel guilty if I am watching telly, and not doing something else. Planning to learn to crochet, but it just seems so tricky.

  8. I had to laugh, we have the opposite problem in our house - lots of blankets with trucks, hot wheels, etc. on them. :) The pattern on that blanket is beautiful!
