What the Kids are Reading 03.12.2013

I love to read books to my kids, and my kids love to hear stories.  Being as my children are young--4 years and 2 years--they are a bit fickle and it seems like they have a different favorite book every week.  So, my plan is to tell you all--every week--what they are reading!

My daughter, who is 4 is loving this book:
There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Clover! by Lucille Colandra
There is actually a series of these books and my daughter has a few of them, but this one is the most seasonal.

My son is loving this book:
Lineman: The Unsung Hero by Michelle Larson

This book is actually my daughter's.  My brother, who is a lineman and my daughter's Godfather, got it for her for her birthday, but my son has taken quite a liking for it.  One good thing about this book for us is that we can tie it back to my brother.  Several times during reading the book, I explain to my son that this is what Uncle Jon does....

And, normally, I wouldn't add this, but this is the book that I am in love with at the moment--which means that the kids hear it quite often!
Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake by Michael B. Kaplan
This was one of the books that came in my daughter's latest Scholastic order.  I ordered it because it dealt with patience (something that causes my daughter to struggle), but this book is flat-out hilarious.  I can't make it through the book without cracking up!

So, that is what they are are reading this week...I'm sure we'll be on to new books next week!

  1. Awesome! My almost 2 year old needs some fresh stories in his collection. I get a little bored reading the same ones again and again!

  2. A book on patience... I could probably use that in my classroom.. my kids (students) love the "There was an old lady.." books!
