Outside the Book 08.25.2013

2 more weeks, folks.

2 more weeks until my daughter starts back at preschool.  But's who's counting.  Well, me--that's who!

Really, this summer has been hard for me.  My daughter is one of those kids who thrives in school--which is fabulous.  The not-so-fabulous part of it is that my daughter expects or needs the same sort of stimulation when she's not in school.  Suffice it to say, I'm worn out and she's bouncing off the walls.

But, hey...only 2 more weeks!

Really, folks, that's all I have today.  Things have been slow on the blog and they probably will be for a while.  This isn't because I'm not reading--but what I'm reading I can't review right away.  Currently, I'm re-reading Midwives for my book club.  I read it years and years ago, when it was an Oprah book, but all I remembered of it was that it was about a midwife who had a mother die during a delivery and the story is told from the daughter's point of view.  So, it is almost like a new book for me!  But, since it is a book club selection, I won't post my review until after my book club meets next, which will be in in mid-September.

After I finish with Midwives, I have some books solicited for review to read.  So, it will be a while before I'll be posting reviews as I read 'em.  In the meantime, I'll be sharing on FB and Twitter my older posts on the blog.  So, if you don't follow me on either of those platforms, you might want to do that (Facebook badge is on the sidebar and I'm @westmetromommy on Twitter).

That being said, here is what did happen on the blog this week:

Monday, August 19 - Book Review: Ellis Island
Tuesday, August 20 - Raising Readers
Wednesday, August 21 - Book Review: Heart Like Mine
Saturday, August 23 - Saturday Snapshot

  1. Love that picture :)

Ah yes, back to school time. I yapped about that a bit on my blog today as well. I homeschool so I don't get quite as excited as I used to when all of my kids were in public school, lol.

  2. I know that this time of year is hectic for most of the world. Here in New Zealand, the kids go to school year round with 6 weeks off for summer.
