2014 Reading Goals

Well, hello nice to see you all on this side of the New Year!

I am a goal person, not a resolution person.  And, honestly, I am a bit anal about the whole thing--we're talking excel spreadsheets and phone apps and all that.  It's pretty sad.

So, I do set reading goals for myself each year.  I tend to stay away from reading challenges, although I did sign up to do the Jazz Age challenge for January (it only involves reading one book).  That being said, here are my goals for this year.

  • Read 105 books this year.  I met my 100 books for 2013 goals a few days early, so I thought I'd up this by 5% this year.
  • Read at least 7 hours a week.  Last year, my goal was 6 hours a week and, by the middle of the year, I was in the groove on this one.  I debated making this a "read 1 hour a day" goal, but I realized that life happens--especially when little kids are involved--so I decided to give myself a little leeway on this.  Honestly, though, I think this one will be pretty easy.
  • Post here at least 10 times a month.  After the "Saturday Snapshots" posts and monthly wrap up posts, that's a minimum of about 5 reviews a month.  Again, should be easy.
I will admit that my goals here are on the simpler side.  Mostly, these are to keep my on track when I hit a slump (it happens to all of us).  Some of the goals for other parts of my life a little more ambitious, so don't think I'm a total slacker.

Happy New Year everyone!

  1. Happy New Year! Wow, I didn't realize you had hit the 100 book mark- and are shooting for more than that this year! It's admirable the way you describe it as a simple goal - it's quite a commitment to take time for yourself to read rather than vegging out in front of the TV
