So, um, hey there!

Way back on January 1st of this year, I published my reading goals for this year.  They were:

  • I am going to continue with a Goodreads Challenge, but I'm lowering my goal from 125 to 100.  I'm also going to include audiobooks in this count.  My actual Goodreads Challenge will be more like 102 or so to cover the books I've started in 2014 but will finish in 2015.
  • I'm rededicating myself to giving up books that are not working for me.
  • I will not time my reading (one of my 2014 goals was to read an hour a day and it caused me more stress than it was worth).
  • I'm not going to have more than 5 books on my Netgalley TBR shelf at a time.  I went a little crazy with Netgalley this year....yikes!
  • I'm going to be more involved with my blogging.  There are have been many, many periods during this year when I posted something and that was it.  I'm going to spend more time replying to comments and interacting on other blogs.
  • Finally, I'm going to try not to post reviews on the blog in June and December.  There may be a review or two that sneaks in just because I read it long before its publication date, but I'm going to try to keep those months review free.  I will still be posting during those months--I'll keep up with Saturday Snapshot and Monday reading posts and I'll post about other things and I may even have a guest post or two.
I have to say that this is a mixed bag.  I did accomplish my Goodreads goal and I didn't publish any reviews in June, other than that, I really didn't too well.

The reason I set these goals up last January was to help myself prevent book burnout.  Well, I had one of my worst burn out periods this year.  I also am not exactly doing the blogging thing right now--I said I wouldn't post reviews in December and I had pre-schedule reviews in November, so you probably haven't noticed it.

Here is what happened....I did NaNoWriMo this year.  I didn't write a book, and I was almost 4,000 words short of my 50K goal, but I did write every day. I don't know if it will ever come to anything and I'm not sure if I'll do NaNoWriMo in the future, but I will say that it really kept me from blogging (and housecleaning).

So, here is what is happening. I will have 2 reviews this week--one is a book that I meant to review in November, but I couldn't find the time to write up the review with NaNoWriMo going on, and the other is a music review.  Other than that, I'm just going to stick with my Saturday Snapshots for the rest of December.

Now, onto January, since I have this post going, I might as well put out my 2016 goals right now.
  • I'm keeping my 2016 Goodreads Challenge Goal at 100.  However, I will NOT be including chapter books that I read with my daughter, which I did in 2015.  My daughter is quite a reader and she's been spending more time reading to me!
  • I'll post no more than 2 reviews a week, and only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • I'll continue with the "It's Monday, What Are You Reading?" (resuming in January) and "Saturday Snapshots" memes, as well as adding "FitReaders Check In" on Fridays, starting in January.

And, really that's it.  I'm going to continue my quest to train myself to put down books that aren't working for me and I won't be reviewing everything I read.  I'm also going to be much more selective about the books that I agree to review.  So, you know, you can send me a pitch but, unless you are writing from an established publishing house or from a publicity company I've worked with in the past, the odds are not great that I'll accept, just saying...

So, I know that it doesn't seem like I've been ignoring the blog, but I've been feeling like that on my end...and I don't like it!  But, come 2016, I'll be back at it again!
