2016 Goals and 2015 in review

Happy 2016!  I'm missing New Year's Day by a couple of days, but only because I had other things scheduled to post for that day, which I'll discuss a bit more below.

I posted my 2016 goals a few weeks ago, but I thought I'd revisit them--if for no other reason than it will be easy to find this post next December when I need to see how I did.

2016 Reading and Blogging Goals

  1. I will be doing the Goodreads Challenge again this year.  My goal will stay in at 100, but I won't be counting books that I read with my daughter (because she does more and more of the reading herself) or audiobooks that are "re-reads."
  2. I will not take any books from Netgalley this year.  I do have a few titles still out, but I won't be taking any new titles out this year.  As many of you know, Netgalley has a tendency to snowball and I've fallen victim to that more than once.  So...I'm taking a break from it (for this year!)
  3. I will only post reviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  This serves 2 purposes, one is to spread my reviews out a bit and the other is to make sure that I do something OTHER than book reviews on this blog.
  4. I will take review breaks From June 1-June 15 and again in December.  This really doesn't have to do with reading or writing reviews, but those two periods are just very busy in my life and I do spend some time promoting posts.  So, taking the promoting time out of my "busy seasons" would help me to keep my sanity.
  5. I will stick to a blogging schedule.  I'm one of those strange people who thrives with schedules, but I've never really put one on my blog posts, so I'm going to try it this year.  And, just so you know, here is the schedule:
Sunday - No posts
Monday - It's Monday, What Are You Reading (hosted by Kathryn at Book Date)
Tuesday - Book Reviews (except during review breaks)
Wednesday - Other posts--I will post as many of these as I can, but I can't guarantee that there will be one every week
Thursday - Book Reviews (except during review breaks)
Friday - #FitReaders Check In
Saturday - Saturday Snapshot (scheduled for 9pm on Friday Night)

So, in other words, you should be seeing a lot of me this year.

Okay, onto the 2015 in review!  Below are all the books I read or listened to this year.  I've also linked to the reviews or given the future review date when possible.

2015 Reading Review

First, a few stats:
I reviewed 50% of the books I read this year.  Honestly, I think that should be higher and it is something I'm going to work on in 2016.

My format breakdown:
Ebook - 46.4%
Print - 43.6%
Audio - 10%
This is the first time I've read more ebooks than print books--just an interesting little takeaway.  That trend will probably continue (as I'll explain in a future post).

Books read by Gender of Author
Female - 77.3%
Male - 22.7%
I'm okay with that.  I think I'd like to get it to at least 75%/25%, just because...but it isn't something that I'm going to concentrate on in 2016.
