It's Monday...What Are You Reading? - January 4, 2016

Happy Monday!  I hope that 2016 is treating you well so far!  Honestly, I can't quite answer that at the moment,  I am ready for my kids to go back to school but, as I write this on Sunday afternoon, the snow is falling and is supposed to fall well into the night, when it switches to freezing rain.  Christmas break may end up being a little longer than expected!

I have a 2015 review post coming up on Wednesday, so I'm not going to go into what I read last week on this post (I'll start that up again next week).  I was hoping to get through at least one book so far in 2016, but this weekend ended up being delightfully more busy than I had planned.

Right Now, I'm reading:
Lafayette in the Somewhat United States by Sarah Vowell
Yep, still on my first book of the year.  I'm hoping to have this finished soon, so I'll refrain from saying too much about it right now, other than it is feeding into my all my Revolutionary War interests.

The Scent of Secrets by Jane Thynne
2016 is the year of no Netgalley for me, but I do have a few books that I got from there in 2015 that I need to finish, and this is the first of them.  I'm not far into it yet, but I think my high expectations will be met.  I'm generally sick of WWII era historical fiction UNLESS it is told from the German (bu not necessarily Nazi) side of things.

Right Now, I'm listening to:
Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
I read and reviewed this book last year, but it is the February selection for one of my book clubs.  I've decided to do these re-reads (The Girl on the Train is also on the docket for 2016) via audiobook.  I generally don't listen to novels in audio--unless I've already read them at least once before.  So far, I'm enjoying this one.  The narration is great and, well, I loved the book the first time I read it!

Because it is a re-read, I'm not counting it towards my yearly reading, or marking it as in-progress on Goodreads.  Let's just say it is "off the record."
