For the children's program, they can set one of three goals: Read 20 books, Read on 20 days, or Read for 15 minutes 20 times. My son will be reading for 20 days (we'll read at least 20 minutes each day to make it count) and my daughter will be reading 20 books (chapter books for her).
And, I don't know if this is just my library district or what, but they also have summer reading for adults! This was not a thing when I was younger and, frankly, I think it is a welcome development. I mean, why should the kids get all the fun? The Adult program is less regimented, but there are still chances to win prizes and such. And I'm a sucker for prizes.
Another thing I'm (finally) doing is the Books on the Nightstand Bingo. This podcast is unfortunately "going on an indefinite hiatus" at the end of the month, but their Bingo will live on. After losing a few cards and then dealing with printer issues, I finally have my card:
My goal is a bingo by Labor Day and Blackout by the end of the year. Some of these are going to be tricky, and I may be turning to all of you for suggestions. I'll also be posting updates on my progress!
Now, because Summer Reading is upon us, I have a giveaway for you! A while ago, Lake Union Publishing sent me an ARC of "Where We Fall" for review and a finished copy as a giveaway. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to read the ARC yet and I don't want to hold up the giveaway. So, I'm going to post the giveaway now! If you'd like to read more about this book, it was recently on tour with TLC Book tours. You can visit the tour page for a synopsis and links to the reviews on various blogs.
This giveaway is open to US readers only (sorry, but I usually have to mail this from a kiosk and I can't send internationally that way) and will run until midnight (Pacific Time) on June 7th. Good luck and happy summer reading!
