Saturday Snapshot - January 21

To participate in Saturday Snapshot: post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post in the Mister Linky below. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

Today (Friday) is a tough, tough day--especially in the US, but the world will feel it as well.  And sometimes, on tough, tough days, we just need some Internet cats.  Here's the thing, if you are looking for comfort, Alice is NOT the cat you should go to.  She doesn't like humans, she's feisty and sometimes obnoxious, and cuddling is a no-go with her.  She also kind of looks like Hitler. So, today, I'm bringing you pictures of Carmel.

Carmel was the cat I had before Alice.  I adopted him as a kitten when he was probably too young, back in December 2000, and he lived until November 2011.  When he died, I was absolutely heartbroken and it took 3 years before I was ready to adopt another cat (and that is when we got Alice--I'm still not sure I was ready for her).  Carmel was, simply, the best cat.

These pictures were taken in 2009, the year my daughter (my oldest child) was born.  Enjoy this bit of Feline Comfort!

Carmel was a HUGE cat.  At his healthiest, he was over 14 pounds.

This was taken after the babyshower for my daughter (notice all the pink!)  Carmel just had to be in the middle of things!

This was taken the morning after we brought our daughter home.  I didn't have to worry about how he'd react to a new baby--he was unbelievably gentle and tolerant with her.

I love this picture because it looks like Carmel is scolding my daughter--and she's laughing in his face!
